RECENT ADDITIONS // I've screened 58 U.S. releases so far in 2014
Oscar Season: I filed predictions and preferences in the 21 feature categories here, guessing 19 correctly
Elsewhere: Neglect your site long enough and suddenly you're a vintage fad! I'm thrilled to have had Oscar-related features commissioned by The Advocate, about recent nomination trends; The Washington Post, about Academy myths; and Der Spiegel, about formative Oscar memories and favorites this year.
Festivals: I saw 31 features and five short films at the Toronto International Film Festival and nearly doubled both totals at the Chicago International Film Festival. High quality, too, for so much quantity!
Full Reviews: My one new review in a busy year of finishing a book was of Django Unchained; before that, I wrote up The Postman Always Rings Twice, Heroes for Sale, Tim, and The Laramie Project

ONGOING SPECIAL FEATURES // Returning soon from a long hiatus!
Best Actress: Women of 1944 and 2009; essays on Annette Bening, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep
Favorites: Thoughts on Junebug (#18), Georgia (#25), Late Marriage (#27), Howards End (#28)
