Screenplay: Peter Balko.

Twitter Capsule: Tautly plotted, deftly directed noir, like Animal Kingdom in Eastern Europe. Visuals, actors keep old tropes fresh.

Second Capsule: In which Slovak actor Tomáš Maštalír takes dead aim at Gladiator/Proof of Life-era Russell Crowe, vows to go even sexier.

VOR:   Could easily have felt like a noir retread but makes few obvious choices in look or sound. Story and regional subtext consistently surprise.
