First screened in July 2019
Directors: Francesca Scalisi and Mark Olexa. Documentary about a teenage Bangladeshi girl whose parents start pressuring her to marry just as her scholastic potential and pre-professional opportunities are starting to blossom.
Gives face to structural forces stifling the potential of a young Bangladeshi prodigy. Spotty end is partly the point.
This film's style and theme will look familiar to its audience in many ways but it's still eye-opening, and I appreciated its broken formal trajectory.
