Loveless (2017)
aka Nelyubov
First screened in March 2018
Director: Andrei Zvyagintsev. Cast: Maryana Spivak, Aleksey Rozin, Aleksey Fateev, Marina Vasileva, Andris Keiss, Matvey Novikov, Anna Gulyarenko, Natalya Potapova, Artyom Zhigulin. Screenplay: Oleg Negin and Andrei Zvyagintsev.

Twitter Capsule: Andrei is done with these selfish bourgeois a-holes! Not much new here but as polished as ever. Krichman's still a genius.

Second Capsule: The real problem with Loveless is that its portrait of Russian life seems stiff and inauthentic after the meticulous vérité of Red Sparrow.

VOR:   Even as it plays into a template for wintry, anomic festival cinema, Loveless requires technical skill and patience and takes real cultural risks.
